Poetry runs through the 2026 selection, carried by two remarkable voices: Joséphine Bacon, to whom this year’s opening film is dedicated, and the great Tahitian poet Flora Devatine, the subject of a feature documentary.

A poetry deeply rooted in the land, with voices expressing a vital connection to the territories that nourish them—lands that must be cherished, protected, and, at times, defended. This urgency also resonates in Hanging Tobacco by Ellen Gabriel, presented in its world premiere.

From the North American plains to the islands of the Pacific, from the Arctic to the tropical forests, the films come from every horizon, in every language, style, and cinematic form. Carefully selected by a programming team with a discerning eye, these richly diverse works bear witness to cultures that are devilishly alive (as the Jesuits once said), to boundless creativity, and to extraordinary artistic vitality. Here are essential filmmakers, hidden gems, and a few masterpieces destined to leave a lasting impression.

Festival Pass – Cinéma du Musée & La Métropolitaine: $45

The $45 Festival Pass gives you access to all regular film screenings in the Festival international Présence autochtone’s annual selection at Cinéma du Musée and La Métropolitaine.

Individual tickets are $15 + taxes per screening.
