Sweetgrass follows Isabelle and her daughter Mariya over the course of more than seven years, as childhood gradually gives way to adolescence. Through everyday life, their connection to the land, and powwows, the film traces a living transmission: of language, traditions, and a way of being in the world, carried through a lineage of women in which their kokom (grandmother) remains a guiding presence.
Without seeking to explain, Sweetgrass simply observes what flows between them—what is passed on, transformed, and takes root over time.
Free screening, no reservation required, first come, first served.
